ASM Global—the world’s leading producer of entertainment experiences—today was announced as the new operator of Södra Teatern and Mosebacketerrassen in Stockholm, Sweden.
A long-term lease agreement has been signed by ASM with the property owners, the brothers Jakob and Mattias Johansson, to manage the iconic theater, restaurant, nightclub and outdoor terrace on the heights of Stockholm.
“It feels fantastic to now be a part of and help elevate this classical venue’s continued development,” said Andreas Sand, GM at Stockholm Live, ASM Global’s subsidiary in Sweden. “Södra Teatern is already a great venue, which has evolved tremendously in recent years, both through careful renovation of the property but also modernization of the business.
“There´s really no better place in the city to see local artists like Albin Lee Meldau, Petter or Weeping Willows than on Mosebacketerrassen,” Andreas said.
Since 2008, ASM Global has operated the venues Avicii Arena (formerly Ericsson Globe), Hovet and Annexet in Stockholm. In 2010 the tourist attraction Skyview was also added outside the Avicii Arena. In 2013 ASM Global also became the operator of Tele2 Arena since its opening. In 2017 ASM Global also took over the operation of Friends Arena in Solna. Södra Teatern will now be the company´s sixth venue in Stockholm.
Södra Teatern was built in 1852 and is one of Sweden's oldest active theaters. Until 2018, the theater was owned by Riksteatern, a publicly funded theater institution. In 2018 Riksteatern sold the real estate and the operating company Södra Teatern AB to the brothers Jakob and Mattias Johansson, who renovated the property for two years. With the new agreement, ASM Global now takes over the management of the operating company and will manage Södra Teatern with its five stages, five bars, restaurant and famous rooftop Champagne bar and Mosebacketerrassen, the outdoor terrace with views all over the city.
