ASM GLOBAL GRANTED CONTRACT RENEWAL TO MANAGE GREATER COLUMBUS CONVENTION CENTER

(Columbus, December 3, 2019) -- The Franklin County Convention Facilities Authority (FCCFA) Board of Directors has approved a contract renewal for ASM Global to continue managing the award-winning Greater Columbus Convention Center (GCCC).

“ASM Global remains dedicated to delivering superior customer service, event execution and innovative programs for this facility,” said FCCFA Executive Director Don Brown. “We value their contributions as a collaborator, and they have earned our trust in ensuring the GCCC and Columbus continue to become increasingly popular convention destinations.”

The contract extension begins January 1, 2020. A series of contract extensions can be authorized by the FCCFA to retain ASM Global as the facility’s management company through 2027.

“We thank the FCCFA Board of Directors for the continued confidence in the outstanding efforts of our local team led by John Page,” said Bob McClintock, executive vice president for convention centers for ASM Global. “The excitement in our industry about Columbus continues to grow and ASM Global is honored to manage this premier asset among our portfolio of properties.”

“We strive to deliver best-in-class services and raise the bar at the GCCC every day, with a focus on innovation, inspiration and imagination,” added GCCC General Manager John R. Page. “The GCCC was recently named one of the top convention centers in the country, among the many other accolades received this year.”

About the FCCFA

The FCCFA owns and develops Nationwide Arena, Hilton Columbus Downtown, the GCCC and the GCCC’s five affiliated parking facilities, with the sixth – the Ohio Center Garage -- opening in March 2020. The FCCFA also leases land to two other hotels connected to the GCCC, the Hyatt Regency Columbus and the Drury Inn & Suites Columbus Convention Center. The FCCFA issues tax and lease revenue bonds supported by hotel tax receipts, and currently levies a 4 percent countywide hotel occupancy tax and an additional 0.9 percent citywide hotel occupancy tax; those rates have remained unchanged since 1988. The FCCFA is overseen by an 11-member board appointed by Franklin County, the City of Columbus and suburban municipalities.
