About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Technician to join the technical and production team at Becketwell Live.

In this hands-on-role role, you’ll play a key part in the success of every event by managing technical setups, overseeing venue turnarounds, and handling reactive maintenance during events. Additionally, you’ll assist with the management of our casual pool of staff, helping to maintain an engagement and effective team.

You’ll be responsible for

  • Responsible, alongside the senior technician, for the technical delivery of events in the main auditorium and all associated breakout spaces within the building.
  • Liaise with promoters, tour managers and event organizers for event advancement at Becketwell Live Venue.
  • Assist touring riggers with venue grid and gantry systems as a venue rigger.
  • Maintain and manage technical equipment proactively and efficiently.
  • Oversee event management from load-in to load-out, including crew management.
  • Lead on venue ‘turnarounds’, including but not limited to seating and stage builds, conference sets and other transformations.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and pursue necessary training.
  • Manage day-to-day maintenance and compliance testing for safety systems (fire alarms, CCTV, etc.).
  • Act as key-holder, opening and locking the venue and managing alarm systems.
  • Serve as Duty Technician on a rota basis and be on-call as required
  • Assist the senior technician in the development and delivery of training for relevant staff.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Experience of working in an events-based environment, ideally within a similar multi-purpose space with a mixed programme.
  • Knowledge of the local and regional entertainment offers and venues.
  • Experience of successfully working to strict time deadlines with the ability to effectively prioritise a range of tasks.
  • Understanding of electrical safety related to live events.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proven IT and AV experience including MS Office packages.
  • Experience of maintaining technical equipment to a high standard, both proactively and reactively.
  • A high level of awareness of Health and Safety issues regarding production and stage production.
  • Knowledge of Portable Appliance Testing (PAT).
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the statutory requirements relevant to live events.

Desirable:

  • Experience of DANTE audio networks
  • Experience of event lighting including DMX, Art-Net and sACN.
  • Recent counterbalance Forklift Truck training.
  • Knowledge of BS7909 in relation to electrical systems.
  • Rigging awareness course or be willing to undertake training
  • Familiarity with CAD drawings (desirable).
Due to the nature of the role, there will be a requirement to work weekends, evenings and public holidays
